Profile

I am a therapist, group facilitator, educator, and researcher, among other things, who is passionate about empowerment of individuals and groups. I feel privileged to witness through my service the unfolding of people’s unique gifts, as well as deep wisdom and intelligence beyond our conscious awareness that seem to be at work.

I have 17 year's experience consulting and teaching individuals, couples, and groups in Japan, the United States, and Europe. I have offered workshops and seminars on a variety of topics including general mental health issues, personal growth, dream work, body work, grief counseling, conflict resolution, art and creativity, and work with people in coma and near death states.

My work is based on the education and training in traditional clinical psychology, thanatology (the study of death and dying), as well as in Process-Oriented Psychology, also known as Process Work. I am certified as Clinical Psychologist through Japanese Certification Board of Clinical Psychologist and hold Diploma in Process Work through Process Work Institute in Portland, Oregon. I adhere to the codes of ethics of both organizations.

After working as a mental health counselor and corporate psychologist in Japan, I felt the urge to learn more about integral approaches to psychology. In 2000, I moved to the United States where I earned a Ph.D. in psychology and Thanatology at Union Institute and University and completed my training at Process Work Institute. Process Work is an awareness-based, multi-layered modality founded and developed by Dr. Arnold Mindell and his colleagues, to whom I owe a large part of my present work. (For more about Drs. Arnold & Amy Mindell’s work, please click here).

In the U.S., I enjoyed using these modalities to work with individuals, couples and groups at holistic clinics and at a community-based organization for people living with HIV/AIDS. At the latter organization, I also planned and co-facilitated the first workshop in Portland for heterosexual people living with HIV/AIDS.

In recent years, I have become interested in discovering how escalating global changes; new findings in science, medicine, and history;  consciousness studies; and wisdom of ancient spiritual traditions fit together. I dedicate myself to ongoing research in these areas, to my inner work, and to exploring better ways to integrate these things as I bring my work into the world.

I am fluent in English and Japanese and offer consultations and seminars in both languages. My approach has inspired those who seek to find creative solutions to identified problems, as well as those who wish to tap their own potential and wisdom to live more fully. I currently reside in London. Twice a year, however, I travel to Japan where I serve as a faculty member at Japan Process Work Center.

I also enjoy inventing healthy recipes, and sitting in a coffee shop/café with my friends or my laptop.
